Richard Kostelanetz "Invocations" LP issued by Folkways Records (FRS 37902) in USA, 1983. Includes original insert. ****** Rec:m (still sealed) : Cov:m- ****** Sound poetry piece released at the Electronic Music Studio of Stockholm (directed by Sten Hanson). For his hour-long experiment in speech-music, Richard Kostelanetz recorded over sixty ministers reciting prayers in over two dozen languages. These prayers were then mixed and manipulated on a 24 track machine into a series of duets, quintets and choruses following the structure of J. S. Bach "Matthew Passion". In "Invocations", as in other unpublished audio works, Kostelanetz is likewise attempting to realize on tape speech contractions that would be impossible in live performance, thus bridging him close to Sten Hanson, Ake Hodell and the other Swedish experimenters at Fylkingen. Richard Kostelanetz is well-known for his books on John Cage, experimental music and multi media. A rare record that hardly show up for sale.
