Sounds of Morocco LP on RIFI, 1972. This was a limited pressing, this is copy no. 438 of 1050 copies. This album comes in an interesting package. There is a paper booklet "cover" attached to the front with beautiful photos and writing. The back is Polystyrene stamped with RIFI and the Ltd Edition number.
Beautiful, beguiling music from the Rif mountains of Morocco recorded by Iain Adams in the late '60s and released as a private pressing in 1972. There are some quite fantastic field recordings here.
Quote from Iain Adams:
"This record doesn't attempt to reproduce anything other than a microcosm of music from the north of Morocco. The Gnaoua and the mitah players and drummers are musicians who get paid, in cash or kind. The rest of the tracks were recorded when I was lucky enough to be with a family of mountain people near Tangiers. They have few possessions, they cannot read or write, they live on what they raise and grow - when you hear their music, its hardly necessary to add that they play music for pleasure."

The vinyl is in excellent condition and still retains a nice original sheen.
LABELS
The Labels are clean and bright on both sides, no scuffs, stickers or writing. A side label is stamped with Ltd Edition number.
COVER
The front of the cover is a 12 page booklet full of beautiful "hand written" notes with photographs. The polystyrene rear of the cover has some indentations and some damage to the top edge, but the stamped printing and Ltd Ed number are quite clear.
A rare unusual album which is highly sought after.
