RIOT - Narita ULTRA RARE UK White Label TEST PRESSING LP – Harry Moss (HTM) Abbey Road Mastering – Unglued Printer’s Proof Sleeve – 1979/80 EMI/Capitol

Description:
Offered here is an exceptionally rare, museum-grade piece of New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) history. This is a genuine UK White Label Test Pressing of Riot’s seminal second album, Narita, featuring unique characteristics that mark it as a pre-production archive copy.

The Vinyl:
This copy features plain white labels with handwritten "1" and "2" on each side. The runout matrix confirms its status as a primary lacquer cut, including the famous "crossed-out" error found on the earliest UK EMI/Capitol samples.

  • Matrix / Runout (Side 1): EST 1 12081-1 (and crossed out: E̶S̶T̶ 1̶ 2̶5̶5̶6̶6̶-̶1̶) - see photos
  • Mastering Engineer: Features the hand-etched 'HTM' initials in the dead wax (see photos), signifying it was mastered by the legendary Harry Moss at Abbey Road/EMI Studios.

The Sleeve:
Included is a rare unglued Printer’s Proof / Mock-up Gatefold Sleeve. Unlike the retail versions, this sleeve remains open and unpasted, likely used for final artwork approval at the EMI marketing office.

Condition:

  • Vinyl: Excellent condition, plays lovely.
  • Sleeve: The sleeve is worn at the edges in places (see photos).

Summary:
Between the HTM mastering, the test pressing labels, and the unglued proof sleeve, this is likely one of only a handful of such copies in existence. A must-have for Riot completists and serious heavy metal archivists.
