Rich Kids on LSD (R.K.L.) was a Californian hardcore punk band formed in 1982 in Montecito, California, a suburb of Santa Barbara. They were associated with the "Nardcore" scene that evolved out of nearby Oxnard. Their music expanded over the years from West Coast hardcore to a mix of hardcore with rock and metal elements. This style, along with touring, made them very popular on the European scene, especially among skaters in the eighties and nineties.
Though not actually from the Oxnard area, RKL was still considered part of the Nardcore punk movement from Oxnard, California due to their close proximity to Oxnard and hardcore style. In 1985 the band soon recorded and released their first full length LP, Keep Laughing on Mystic Records with Dan Sites once again providing artwork. This release included classic RKL tracks "Think Positive"(often played live as "Drink Positive"), "Ded Teds", and "Pothead".

"RKL was another California band that Mystic lumped into the 'Nardcore sound.'  Good California skate punk - the predecessor of Green Day and Offspring, perhaps...  Doug Moody's Mystic Records was probably the most hated record label at the time..."

Welcome to the Skeleton Closet!

I was a rabid music collector for 30+ years - Punk and Hardcore in the early-Eighties, Death Metal and Grunge in the late-Eighties, Industrial and Experimental in the early-Nineties, and Goa Trance and Psytrance in the late-Nineties and early-2000s…

I also worked at a record company for 13 years, toured North America with numerous international acts, DJed internationally, produced festivals, and had a clothing importing company.  So in this time, I’ve accumulated a lot of interesting and limited items...

Family life and other life changes have made me decide to unload my collection.  For the majority of the items, I have been the original owner of the item.  I try to be accurate on my description and condition of the items.  I have a lot to sell, so check back often -- I’ll try to keep the new listings coming weekly...
