Description
This is the super-rare 1959 original pressing LP by ROBERT FARRIS THOMPSON (who was one of the world's foremost experts and scholars on African music) entitled "Safari of One," released as SMC Pro-Arte Records #1058 (subtitled "Primitive Rhythms of African Thumbpianos and West Indian Drums"). This is considered by some to be one of the Holy Grails of recorded Afro Percussive Exotica. The record is in gorgeous MINT condition, being part of a collection purchased from the estate of an exotica collector in 2022 (more titles will be listed shortly). The cover is perfectly intact with no seamsplits or frayed corners and only the slightest hint of age discoloration. The record itself is still in its original cellophane-type plastic inner sleeve (see last picture) which has become a bit brittle with age. The record plays stone mint(!) and is still shiny black. This LP pops up every few years but rarely if ever in this condition.
Buyer agrees to add $4.95 for Media Mail postage in the US (or $30 for international First Class). The record will go out soon after payment is confirmed. Please write if you have any questions.
