ROBERT JOHNSON LP KING OF THE DELTA BLUES a 1972 US MONO pressing, on the COLUMBIA LABEL. CAT#CL1654. This LP was originally released in 1961, and those copies are very expensive, and difficult to find in great condition. So, this pressing seems like a deal with a lower price and a beautifully clean vinyl. Robert Johnson lives on in infamy because of the little we know about him, the few recordings he made, and the mythic pact with the devil he made at the crossroads. Along with Charley Patton, and Leadbelly, he's at the top of the most influential list of blues artists at the cusp of the recording era. This is a wonderful copy.
COVER VG++. The cover would be near mint, if not for a little ring wear, front cover, shelf wear to bottom seam, and very slight toning on back cover. It's really a great cover.
VINYL. NEAR MINT -- An outstanding copy. ****A note that the recordings that comprise this LP were taken from the best 78 records that could be found in 1961. There was surface sounds on some of those original 78s, and so some of the tracks here sound that way, however it is in the recording... not in the grooves.
