Robert Plant & The Strange Sensation : Mighty Rearranger 1st Press Original 2005

This very collectable first pressing is so close to perfect and plays like a dream!  The previous owner confirmed that he never played it and I have no reason to doubt him, the playback is stunning!  The clarity, depth and power of the audio is so impressive and there is only a minor touch of very light static on S1 that does not intrude on the quality of the listen anyway.  The sonic quality throughout is phenomenal!

The vinyl is visually stunning and has only one mega faint blemish as detailed below.  It has no scratches, no hairlines and no spindle wear either which is to be expected.  There was still a fair amount of vinyl 'flecking' around the spindle hole just before I cleaned the record.

The gatefold is in pristine condition and there cannot be a better one out there.  It really has no shelf wear and has been preserved beautifully.  The generic inner sleeve is in great shape also.

This classic album is becoming more rare with each passing year and especially in this condition.  It truly is a stunning example.

Visual description

The heavyweight vinyl is in beautiful condition and still has an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen with no hairlines or scratches.  The only 'mark' I can see is one very small faint blemish on S1 which you only see it on close inspection anyway.  I'm sure it was caused during the pressing / manufacture but yes very faint and it doesn't take away from the stunning visual look of the vinyl.  As stated this has never been played before and there is still a minimal amount of 'flecking' around the spindle hole.  There was more but as I set the record down on my Pro-Ject cleaner the spindle removed quite a lot of the 'flecking' that was there!  I repeat it has a pristine finish and no hairlines!  The labels are near perfect with just a couple of minor white 'scuffs' around the S1 label rim.  There is no spindle wear obviously! A stunning example of this rare album.

Play grading

The run in on S1 is so clean, there is not even a dust tick, and then the intro on 'Another Tribe' plays perfectly with no intrusion.  Plant's opening vocal is 'as new' and this standard is kept up to the very end.  The clarity, depth and warmth of the audio is comparable to an un-played vinyl and as stated it very well may not have been!  The fade out has no background either.  This is Mint without question.
'Shine It All Around' has only a hint of barely audible static on the intro and I do mean barely audible!  Don't know why I mention it really!  The first vocal is flawless and the chorus then plays with sublime power and definition.  From then on it plays with outstanding sonic quality and I heard only one mega quiet dust tick.  There is no distortion on the top end and there are quite simply no negatives.  I will grade as Mint- although Mint would not be out of place.
'Freedom Fries' plays with audio of the highest calibre and there is no interference.  A powerful track it has that deep rich clean tone you only get with un-played / hardly played vinyls and again Mint is deserved.
The clarity throughout 'Tin Pan Valley' is absolutely STUNNING!  From the super quiet intro and then through every vocal and instrumental section the sonic quality is incredible.  Each note is so clean and precise and the high octane sections could not play any better.  I cannot overstate just how immaculate the audio is!  Mint
The acoustic intro on 'All The Kings Horses' plays beautifully with no intrusion and the first verse is just as impressive.  The second / third verse does have a small number of minor static sounds once per rotation due to that faint blemish but they are so quiet and do not intrude on the listening 'experience'.  This does not last long and the remainder plays with sublime quality and no other background apart from a couple of very minor ticks near the end.  I will grade as Near Mint- although the majority does indeed play with perfect clarity.
The intro on 'The Enchanter' has a handful of mega quiet static sounds but again they do not impact on the audio.  So so quiet and totally in the background.  Plant's first vocal is faultless and the first powerful section is so deep and strong, the playback is outstanding!  From then on it plays so clearly and with no inner groove distortion.  A couple of barely audible ticks but the audio is STUNNING in so many ways.  If you win this just listen to the quiet sections - wow they're good!  Just a hint of light static on the fade out.  I will grade the intro as Near Mint and the rest as Mint- it really is a superb track.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The run in on S2 is again unbelievably clean and then the quiet / loud intro on 'Takamba' is 'as new'.  The first vocal is equal to that and it continues to play with breath-taking quality.  Great power and definition when required and delicate precision during the quieter sections.  A stunning Mint version.
'Dancing In Heaven' plays beautifully from the get go - the acoustic intro is perfect as is Plant's opening vocal.  Once again you cannot fail but be impressed by the sonic quality as there is literally nothing to detract from the audio and from start to finish including the fade out it is Mint in every way.

'Somebody Knocking' and 'Let The Four Winds Blow' both play with stunning precision and the clarity, depth and warmth of the audio is just immense!  Mint
The 'percussive' intro on 'Mighty ReArranger' has no interference and from then on plays with impeccable quality.  Perhaps a touch of inner groove distortion for a few seconds but so so minor and scarcely worth a mention.  It plays with tremendous power and depth throughout and did I say no interference!  Mint- at the very least.
'Brother Ray' ends this fine album with high end audio... once more.  No interference and no obvious distortion it is Mint- and even then the minus could be deemed a little harsh!
In summary this first press plays with STUNNING audio on both sides with essentially no interference.  A minor touch of very light static on S1 but in no way does this detract from the incredible audio.  This was not pressed in vast numbers and if you are reading this you will know how collectable it is and surely not many can have been kept in such fine condition as this one.  The clarity, depth, power and resonance of the audio is high end indeed and as stated this record may well never have been on a turntable before, it certainly plays like it!  In conjunction with a pristine cover this will grace any collection, it truly is a STUNNING example!
The Gatefold & Inner Sleeve
The matt textured cover is in beautiful condition and has retained its original shape and structure perfectly, it has clearly hardly ever been handled.  There are no negatives and the only thing I can say is that it has one small faint crease on the front cover next to the opening edge that you can only see when you hold the cover at a certain angle.  The edges and wide spine are 'as new' and the corners are also in lovely condition with barely any rubbing.  The front and back cover are unmarked and the inside of the gatefold is immaculate.  This is a stunning example of this cover.
The plain white inner does not need to be graded really as it is just a generic one.  Nevertheless it has no side splits or marking and only minimal creasing.
