Description
LIKE A GIRL I WANT YOU TO KEEP COMING, Giorno Poetry Systems, 1989. A compilation of musical performances by pink and New Wave performers and representatives of the Beat Generation cilture of the 1950s, a "meeting of minds" which took place in New York City in the days of CBGB and other clubs in the 1980s. Featured are Debbie Harry (BLONDIE), NEW ORDER, David Byrne (TALKING HEADS), LIVE SKULL, PMS (PRE METAL SYNDROME), Karen Finley (Performance Artist) WILLIAM S. BURROUGHS (surviving [AT THE TIME] leader of the "Beat" writers), HENRY ROLLINS BAND (spoken word artist and lead singer of BLACK FLAG) and JOHN GIORNO BAND (led by poet and impresarIo John Giorno, who prodUced and released this record). The AMAZING cover art is by ROBERT WILLIAMS, one of the original ZAP comix artists, art director for Ed "Big Daddy
" Roth, founder of JUXTAPOZ, now the best selling art magazine around, and founder and grand master of the "Lowbrow" movement of art featuring highly technically skilled practitioners of imaginative realistic paintings, Pop Surrealism, tattoos, skateboard art, graffiti, etc., all more or less in defiance (at the time) of the art gallery establishment. The insert and record sleeve inside is a full scale comic by GARY PANTER, the leading "punk" artist, in his own way as big of an influence as Williams. This has been out of print for a long time. Played once and stored in plastic sleeve with others of my record collection since its release. Sells for a much higher price elsewhere.
