Very Rare Cat Label Early Rock / Rockabilly Original 45
ROY E. MOORE & THE TENNESSEE DRIFTERS
"BLACK OUT " backed with "LET ME BE YOUR MAN"
Cat Records # 1001
A mega rare original Roy E. Moore 45, which was eventually comped on a Bear Family compilation album. This early pressing pre-dates the Bear Family compliation by many years! Black Out is one of the coolest early electric guitar instrumentals we have ever heard! Let Me Be Your Man is more of a Country song with some Rockabilly sound as well and some Hank Williams style “moaning” vocals here and there. Both sides are originals, written and performed by Roy E. Moore. This record was pressed in very small numbers and rarely ever shows up for sale.
We have recorded a sound clip from both sides so you can listen:

Our favorite line from Let Me Be Your Man is "You can bang my head with a skillet and then a pan"!
The sound clips were recorded from the actual 45 being offered, with no filtering or enhancing of any kind.
This 45 has two “X” marks scratched into the label on the Let Me Be Your Man side and several small label scratches on the Black Out label. Under a lamp the record shows surface wear, scuffing, a few light scratches and about three deep looking scratches on the Black Out side, although they don’t feel as deep as they look. This 45 plays with some crackling and surface noise but the music was recorded with a nice raw sound and this record still has a pleasing sound in spite of the crackling. It plays through with no skips or repeats on either side.
This 45 will be placed between pieces of cardboard inside a paper 45 sleeve for protection during shipping.
