ROCKIN' CONTINENTALS
Mega rare Midwest 45rpm

What a treat to be able to offer such a clean, and rare item as this. Few collectors of garage, rockabilly and hot rod records have had the opportunity to own an original 45 by the Rockin' Continentals. They were a group based in Topeka, Kansas, who had the good fortune to record a pair of the most rip-snortin' genre-straddling records of the early '60s.

Their songs have appeared on numerous compilation CDs and are favorites on mix tapes of collectors of rockabilly, hot rod and garage band records.

Who were they? The group were Johnny Thompson, Melvin Ralston, Chuck Smith, and Bill Doyle. Though little is known about them, they seem to have cut their records in 1962 although a mysterious RCA pressing code on the right side of the label might make you think it was from 1957.

The topside of this record is clearly "The 309." It's got an echo-filled hot guitar and a vocal that sounds more like a record from California than flat in the middle of Kansas.

On the flipside is "1-2-3" which is an killer instrumental of echo guitar and slamming drums and bass. 25 years later, a UK indie group called the Sid Presley Experience would record "Hup 2-3-4" which was eerily similar.

CONDITION: VG++ former jukebox single. Only minor wear on this 45 and perhaps the best you'll see for a very long time.
