      This auction is for a four piece lot of THE ROCKY HORROR (PICTURE) SHOW MEMORABILIA from the 1970s !        This includes the ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW PICTURE DISC, the TIM CURRY PROMOTIONAL VINYL '45 OF "I WILL", AND TWO PROGRAMS FOR THE 1978 ROCKY HORROR SHOW PERFORMANCE LIVE ON STAGE AT THE WESTBURY MUSIC FAIR ON LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK!




      A little back story...  A friend and I had been in to the RHPS movie for a year or two in the late 1970s.  In December of 1978, we both went to see The Rocky Horror Show on stage.  In 1979, my friend bought me this picture disc for a birthday present (more on the rest of the items as we go along).


1.   "THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW" PICTURE DISC  --  I see a few different dates on when this picture disc was released...1975, 1977, 1979...   You would think it could possibly be 1975, as that the date that is printed on the bottom rim of the picture disc.          Most research tells me that it was 1979, AND that there was not one, but TWO "limited edition" pressings.  I could not find out what the total run count was for each pressing.


       Even though the shrink wrap is no longer on this package, I believe that the album was never played.  I skipped around the beginning of each song, and all sounded well (you're really not going to play this anyway, are you?), in fact it sounded pretty damn good for a picture disc.  I am going to put the lp in a plain white sleeve just for added protection.

       Photograph #2 shows the disc in the cardboard sleeve.  #3 is of the top right corner where you can see that the number of this disc is #21102.  Pic #4 is the back cover, and #5 is a close up where it says that this was distributed by JEM (who was mainly an importer).  The cover has very small blunts on the top and bottom right corners.

       Pictures #6 and #7 display the front and back sides of the disc.  #8 is of the erroneous  "1975" release date.




 2.  TIM CURRY  --  "I WILL"  --  Photos #9 through #13 are of this piece.  This is a white label PROMOTIONAL '45 by Tim Curry.  It is his cover version of The Beatles White Album classic "I WILL"...in MONO and STEREO!  This is a medium tempo reggae version.
       The single was pulled from Curry's 1978 album "Read My Lips".  I am not sure how long the lp version was, but the label says that this is a 3:18 edited version.  There are some very, very light tics that may be heard during the song (condition being VERY GOOD PLUS PLUS / EXCELLENT for you vinyl aficionados).  The sleeve is in good condition (I will put the '45 in a new plain white sleeve, but also include this original A&M sleeve).



3.  THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW PROGRAMS  --  This auction includes BOTH (2) of these Playbill-like programs!    Photograph #14 shows both programs.  Pics #15 through #20 are of the first program, which is in very good condition.  #16 displays a couple impressions on the front cover, and #17 a light smudge about an inch up on the bottom right corner.  The other three pictures are from the inside of this program (love the Sam Goody ad).
      #21 is of the second program, and this is in near mint condition.

     Finally, photo #22 is of my original ticket for this show.  The programs were obtained from the December 21, 1978 stage show of THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW held at the WESTBURY MUSIC FAIR on Long Island, Westbury, New York.  Check out the ticket price...$5.00...and that included parking!  Feel free to copy the photo, but I'll be keeping the original for myself for the time being.  Again...

      The show ran for one week.  From what I understand, this was the first or second time that the show was staged since the original ran for 48 performances in March-April 1975 at the Belasco Theatre on Broadway in New York City.


      These items will be shipped in a box that I use to ship vinyl record albums in.
