An excellent condition copy of this increasingly rare and sought after 1970 (originally released in 1966) UK press Rolling Stones rock gem, with 1W, 2W vinyl matrix numbers on the DECCA record label, STEREO, SKL 4786

The dead wax matrix numbers are :

Side 1   XZAL-7209-1W with stampers "G 2 D" at 10 o'clock

Side 2   XZAL-7210-2W with stampers "1" and "B K" at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock respectively

The appearance and overall condition of the flat, weighty vinyl is excellent (EX). Each side gleams, with a gorgeous jet black sheen and in normal daylight comes across as virtually unmarked. With close scrutiny under a very bright light a few small wispy hairlines and a couple of very light, small surface scuff marks come into view on each side of the vinyl - not obvious at all, nothing feelable, nothing below the surface, all trivial and superficial and not impinging upon the truly brilliant sound quality at all. Hard to believe that this classic rock vinyl is now 50 years of age!

The labels are excellent (EX). Lovely condition labels with silver text upon the dark blue matt background and, of course, the iconic silver/dark blue Decca logo, all in tip-top condition. The only blemishes are a few small and very faint spindle trails next to the centre hole on each label.

The condition of the front-only laminated outer sleeve is excellent minus (EX-). Each edge, including the spine, remains firm with no scuffing at all; similarly for the corners with each remaining a perfectly defined right angle with no rubbing/scuffing, and the firm opening edges with no fraying or feathering. There are x6 very light surface creases perpendicular and adjacent to the spine on the front side (you have to tilt the sleeve to the right angle in a good light to see them), an extremely light (barely visible) diagonal surface creases on the reverse side towards the bottom left corner, just the hint of some mildest of mild ring wear towards the top and bottom edges on both sides, and the odd very, very light grubby age mark - these glitches are minor and the overall appearance and presentation of the gatefold remains very impressive. There is NO edge scuffing, no obvious cardboard creasing, there is NO age discolouration, there is NO opening edge fraying, and there is NO unwanted writing or doodles - remarkable! All colours, art work, and text remain in rich, vibrant condition with great clarity and definition. Impressive!

The quality of the audio is a solid excellent (EX). Wonderful tone and clarity throughout, even at higher volume and on higher frequencies. No repeats, sticks, skips clicks or background interference (perhaps just the hint of a little and very mild background crackle at the very beginning and end of each side and during a couple of the interludes....nothing really! Every track on this brilliant LP remains a great listen. Such a landmark LP...the fourth Rolling Stones album but the first one with every track written by Jagger/Richards.

Comes with excellent plus condition original poly-lined inner sleeve with no rips, tears, seam splits or creasing, with correct "MADE IN ENGLAND" and "5-71" dated, and of course remaining fully functional. Note that I always use a new, plain white replacement inner sleeve for shipping purposes in order to protect the original.

In summary an excellent condition and highly presentable copy of this increasingly rare and sought after 1970 UK press Rolling Stones rock classic - the whole LP remains a great listen. This landmark album is a "must" for any serious rock vinyl collection and will only continue to gain in value.

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl thick cardboard "crucifix" style mailer along with at least two thick cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in separating the record from the outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.

Mint

The records itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items, such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.

Very Good

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Fair

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents are torn, stained and/or defaced

Poor

The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents are badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler
