Description
On offer is the 1966 release on DECCA RECORDS from
THE ROLLING STONES
'AFTERMATH'
It's Cat. No. is LK 4786 and is the MONO version
It has the 'unboxed' DECCA Red label.
With albums this old and rare, condition is crucial, so I'll try to be as complete and detailed as I can;
Overall, I would grade the whole package (sleeve and vinyl) as VG
as per the Record Collector's Guide...
i.e. "The record shows signs of being played a lot with a few light scuffs, scratches and subject to normal wear and tear"
I have played the album both sides and it plays very well all the way through with NO jumps or skips at all...
...and when it gets going, it sounds great with all the original clarity people expected from Decca's "full frequency recordings" .
so on this point you can bid with confidence.
But you can hear crackles at the start of both sides (found on many albums, even some described NM) and SOME but not all of
the quieter parts and between tracks.
But it's to be expected on some items of this age and it does not distract that much and arguably can even add
to the listening experience. You don't even notice at all on the louder tracks.
There are quite a few (superficial) surface scratches and one or two hairline scratches on both sides...
and it could well possibly benefit from a professional deep-clean.
You can (hopefully) see from the photos and judge for yourself.
As far as the cover goes, it has done its job over the years and protected the contents, but has itself seen somethinh of life.
There is evidence of 'sellotape mending' top front on about 4% of the back, again, see photo.
The front cover is VG+ and looks overall pretty good, with only a small amount of 'puckering' on the 'Clarifoil' lamination.
The spine is intact if a little squashed, but there are no tears or holes and it is still in good overall order.
There is some ag e-releated browning to what would have been pristine when new, white/cream on the back of the cover and
some wear to the side/middle of the back where the record is accessed.
The inner sleeve is original and is in good ok condition.
Yes it is a little creased, but is 100% intact.
It's the paper/polythene one and the inside poly layer is intact and not ripped at all.
It would grade it G++

I am in the process of selling a few rare and unusual records, some in MINT but most in the EX or VERY GOOD PLUS range of condition.
I try to grade records as accurately and as fairly as I can, as I have found that things I have bought on eBay have mostly been described pretty well, with only a couple in over nearly two-hundred transactions being not quite as described - but near enough for me not to complain!
MINT (M) - Sealed and/or obviously unplayed. Perfect condition.
NEAR MINT (NM) - Vinyl in new condition, record may have been played once or twice.
The cover may have very, very slight wear and/or creasing.
EXCELLENT. (EX) - The record shows evidence of being played with a few light surface marks or scuffs. the cover posssibly has slight general wear.
VERY GOOD (VG) - The record shows signs of being played a lot with a few light scuffs, scratches and subject to normal wear and tear.
GOOD - Plays reasonably well but has lots of scuffing/scratching that may be distracting. The cover shows lots of wear with creasing, tears and splits.
