Another from my personal collection of records that I have accumulated over a period of more than 45 years. This is an original 1st UK pressing 1973 Rolling Stones album "Goat Head Soup" Looks in virtually unplayed condition.  A2 B1 Matrix Endings, Barely played no more than a hand full of times by me only. This was pre ordered and purchased by me from new. I initially only ever played this album a hand full of times to record to tape and then it was stored with the vinyl separated from the cover and sleeve for protection. This is how I have always stored my records. As you can see from the photos this looks almost as good as the day that I purchased it. I have recorded the complete album for you to listen to in the played below! The audio is absolutely stunning crystal clear and vibrant through out! Audio is graded almost as good as it gets Excellent plus to near mint on my systems. The 1st issue gate fold  cover is also in amazing condition very rarely ever seen like this! Goats Head Soup is the 11th British and 13th American studio album by The Rolling Stones, released in 1973. It featured the song "Angie", which went to No. 1 as a single in the US and top 5 in the UK.




In November 1972 the band relocated to Kingston, Jamaica's Dynamic Sound Studios. Keith Richards said in 2002: "Jamaica was one of the few places that would let us all in! By that time about the only country that I was allowed to exist in was Switzerland, which was damn boring for me, at least for the first year, because I didn't like to ski... Nine countries kicked me out, thank you very much, so it was a matter of how to keep this thing together..."




Of the recording process, Marshall Chess, the president of Rolling Stones Records at the time, said in 2002, "We used to book studios for a month, 24 hours a day, so that the band could keep the same set-up and develop their songs in their free-form way, starting with a few lyrics and rhythms, jamming and rehearsing while we fixed the sound. It amazed me, as an old-time record guy, that the Stones might not have played together for six or eight months, but within an hour of jamming, the synergy that is their strength would come into play and they would lock it together as one..."




Jagger said of their approach to recording at the time, "Songwriting and playing is a mood. Like the last album we did (Exile on Main St.) was basically recorded in short concentrated periods. Two weeks here, two weeks there – then another two weeks. And, similarly, all the writing was concentrated so that you get the feel of one particular period of time. Three months later it's all very different and we won't be writing the same kind of material as Goats Head Soup."




On the sessions and influence of the island, Richards said, "The album itself didn't take that long, but we recorded an awful lot of tracks. There were not only Jamaicans involved, but also percussion players who came from places like Guyana, a travelling pool of guys who worked in the studios. It was interesting to be playing in this totally different atmosphere. Mikey Chung, the engineer at Dynamic, for example, was a Chinese man — you realise how much Jamaica is a multi-ethnic environment."




The album cover was designed by Ray Lawrence and photographed by David Bailey, a friend of Jagger's who had worked with The Rolling Stones since 1964. The portrait of Jagger on the front cover was approximately life size in the original 12-inch LP format.




The sessions for Goats Head Soup were abundant with outtakes. Two of these — "Tops" and "Waiting on a Friend" — would surface on Tattoo You in 1981, and feature Mick Taylor on guitar; "Through the Lonely Nights" became the B-side to the "It's Only Rock 'n Roll (But I Like It)" single and was released on CD for the first time on the 2005 compilation Rarities 1971–2003.





In 1994 Goats Head Soup was remastered and reissued by Virgin Records, and again in 2009 by Universal Music. The first pressing of the Universal remaster contains a censored version of "Star Star" that was on the original US vinyl release, but not on the 1994 Virgin CD; later pressings contain the uncensored version.




 The album was reissued once more in 2011 by Universal Music Enterprises in a Japanese-only SHM-SACD version, which includes the uncensored version of "Star Star" with a previously unreleased fadeout.

The Vinyl

 
The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free of any warps and looks like new condition. I can't even see a blemish on the playing surface what so ever!
 Any marks that possibly could be seen in strong light would be light wyspy sleeve removal type but too be honest I find it hard to see any at all! importantly no audio sounding marks or needle marks at all, at least none that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops  that I heard at all!

The Audio Quality

I have played this track for track at very, very loud volume prior to listing at very loud volume. From the moment that the needle hits the playing surface , it is obvious that this vinyl not only visually but audibly has only ever been played barely a hand full of times before ever! The audio is stunning cristal clear and vibrant, very bright and clear throughout without any signs of distortion at all and plays with a lovely deep bassey feel only found like this on early pressings! Amaizingly, even in between tracks this is nice and silent very very rare copy like this! I would grade the audio at least  Near as mint as I could possibly hope in my opinion! An Audio Archive copy Never Need To Upgrade!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer. Please allow for minor isolated static/ticks perhaps heard in very isolated quiet places only,, but nothing constant throughout the audio. Please remember that this vinyl is an original 34 years old and would have been originally played on a 34 year old system.
Points to note! This album has been stored in a case laying dormant for over  34 years or more. A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes stat ticks/crackle.  A constant clean before each play is highly recommended. This will reduce any static and enhance the audio quality.  It is noted that I saw debrit left on the playing surface after play, indicating this will need further cleaning.. ((To be honest I never heard any major problems perhaps very minor static /ticks to mention only!))

The Labels

These are the original Rolling Stone Records Labels There's not much to say but these are superb in my opinion. If you look very hard you may just about see a hand full of spider marks only no wear! The spindle hole is free of any wear and of course is perfectly round!

The Record Sleeve

This is the original plain white paper sleeve patented made in England no splits or tears very clean indeed. The original.

Inserts
This is complete with both insert posters in as new and not much more to say.

The Cover

This Is The Original early 1st issue/  1st UK Press un laminated  UK cover in absolutely tip top superb stunning Very, very Near Mint condition! These are almost impossible to keep in near perfect condition like this! No real nasty rubbing wear at all, No real crushing to mention at the spine and no real nasty rubbing wear that is often seen any rubbing wear you would have to look for to notice in my opinion. Amazingly  no ring wear on the front very, very minor at the rear again you have to look for it to notice. There is a very minor indent mark at the rear only noticed if looked for only when angled to the light in my opinion. The vinyl has always been stored in a case separated from the cover which has protected this for nearly 34 years! Any other indents or marks that may be noticed only if looked for in my opinion. This cover is graded at least excellent plus to Very, very Near Mint one of the best that you could find in my opinion.
