Another from my personal collection of UK Rolling Stones records that I have acumalated over a period of more than 45 years!
Here on offer is a totally original and complete 1st UK Pressing of The Rolling Stones Big Hits High Tide Green Grass in the original and earliest ((Mono)) The only way to hear this album in my opinion The rarety and collectability about this album is that this has obviously barely ever been played, which is quite rare on a 48 year old Rolling Stones record, which are normally found played to death! Visually I find it hard to see even a blemish on the playing surface ,, at least no audio sounding marks at all that would cause any clicks or pops. The audio is truly astounding crystal clear and very vibrant throughout! The 1st issue Patent applied for gate fold cover is also in exceptional condition, unusually super glossy in appearance also the spine is near perfect without the normal crushing often seen! The vinyl has also very minimal signs of use compared to many that I have seen! Play tested at very loud volume prior to listing, importantly using a dedicated mono cartridge, the audio is very clear and vibrant throughout without signs of any distortion what so ever! I have graded the audio at least excellent plus to very near mint as I heard it and in my opinion! Don't take my word for it, listen to the complete album recording in the player below. (Actual recording from the vinyl)
Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass) is the first official compilation album by The Rolling Stones, released on 28 March 1966, on London Records in the US and on 4 November 1966, by Decca Records in the UK. The two releases featured different cover art and track listing. The front cover for the American release was used for the rear photo on the UK edition.
The album cover photo (US edition) was shot at Franklin Canyon Park in Los Angeles.
Reaching No. 3 on the US charts, where it remained for two years, Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass) proved to be a big smash and currently remains a popular Rolling Stones retrospective.
The UK Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass) includes tracks released after the American edition appeared. The Rolling Stones' debut 1963 single, a cover of Chuck Berry's "Come On", was included, but its more successful follow-up, "I Wanna Be Your Man" — composed by rivals (although in reality as friends) Lennon–McCartney — was left off the album.
Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass) reached no. 4 in the UK charts.
In August 2002, this US edition of Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass) was reissued in a new remastered CD and SACD digipak by ABKCO Records.
The re-release contains stereo mixes of "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction", "Time Is on My Side", "It's All Over Now", and "Heart of Stone".
The British version was again made available to the public as part of a limited edition vinyl box set, titled "The Rolling Stones 1964–1969", in November 2010. It was also re-released digitally at the same time.
The vinyl version of the album includes a booklet inside the gatefold with pictures of The Rolling Stones in concert and in the studio.
It was released once more in 2011 by Universal Music Enterprises in a Japanese only SHM-SACD version.
Please note! The UK track listing is different from the US released version

The Vinyl
This is the original thicker , heavier chunky slab of vinyl only found like this on the earliest original pressings! (Later press are much more flimsier and less robust)!
The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free of any warps.
The vinyl has retained its original sheen from new and actually visually looks like it has barely been played in my opinion! Amaizingly I find it hard to even see a blemish on the playing surface at all! Any marks that possibly could be seen in strong light wiuld be light wyspy sleeve removal only, importantly no audio sounding marks or needle marks that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops that I heard at all!
The audio quality
I have played this track for track at very loud volume prior to listing at very loud volume, importantly using a dedicated mono cartridge! From the moment that the needle hits the playing surface , it is obvious that this vinyl not only visually but audibly has only had very very minimal play only! The audio is stunning cristal clear and vibrant, very bright and clear throughout without any signs of distortion at all and plays with a lovely deep bassey feel only found like this on early pressings! I would grade the audio at least excellent plus to Very near mint in my opinion!
Please note! I always add this disclaimer. Please allow for minor isolated static but nothing constant throughout the audio. Please remember that this vinyl is an original 48 years old and would have been originally played on a 48 year old system.
Points to note! This album has been stored in a case laying dormant for over 40 years or more. A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes stat ticks/crackle. A constant clean before each play is highly recommended. This will reduce any static and enhance the audio quality. It is noted that I saw debrit left on the playing surface after play, indicating this will need further cleaning..
The Labels
These are the original Unboxed Decca labels feature (Only 1st press) The light blue labels are beautiful rich in colour and are very clean all text is readable. It is obvious to me that this vinyl has only had very minimal play only by the limited spider marks that can be seen around the spindle hole. The spindle hole is free of any real ware and of course is perfectly round!
The Record Sleeve
This is the original red and white Decca poly lined sleeve no splits or tares light corners creasing becoming fragile with age very clean compared to many seen! The vinyl and sleeve are always stored separately, this is how I have always stored my records.
The Cover
This Is The Original 1st issue Patent Applied for gate fold cover in absolutely superb stunning condition for an original issue! No splits or tares. This is complete with attached booklet all pages intact. The spine is superb and square no crushing/creasing all text is readable! What makes this so unbeleivable , No nasty creases to report so rare to find like this! very minor and small half moon type creases in the laminate only noticed if looked for and very minor lines at the spine and light creases at the rear only noticed if looked for in my opinion.. Very smal laminate lift at the front top left near the spine aprox 2 cm to mention. No nasty ringware rubbing on the front or rear, The cover has always been seperated from the vinyl and sleeve since purchased from new! The rear is also lovely and generally clean, no nasty names written no creases! Any rubbing wear is minimal only noticed at the bottom edge if looked for only in my opinion. The boklet pages are clean and tidy Unbeleivably rare like this! Graded at least excellent to excellent plus in my opinion! Never need to upgrade from this cover in my opinion!
