THE ROLLING STONES - 'LET IT BLEED' - STEREO VINYL LP  - DECCA  - SKL 5025 - 1969

Description

A 33 1/3 RPM stereo vinyl LP, 'Let It Bleed' by The Rolling Stones

The album was released in 1969 on Decca.

This was the 8th British studio album from The Rolling Stones. Recorded at Olympic Studios, London and Elektra and Sunset Sound, Los Angeles between November, 1968 and November, 1969 and released in December, 1969

All songs were written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, apart from Robert Johnson's 'Love In Vain' (credited to 'Payne' on the label).

Musicians:- Mick Jagger, vocals, harmonica and acoustic guitar; Keith Richards, guitars and vocals; Bill Wyman, bass, autoharp and vibraphone; Charlie Watts, drums. Brian Jones was fired during the recording sessions and plays congas and autoharp on two tracks only. He was replaced by Mick Taylor who plays slide and electric guitar on the album.

A number of other musicians were used during the sessions including Ry Cooder, Nicky Hopkins, Ian Stewart, Al Kooper, Leon Russell, Jack Nitzsche, Bobby Keys and Merry Clayton

Produced by Jimmy Miller, engineered by Glyn Johns

The sleeve shows a surreal sculpture designed by Robert Brownjohn based on a record autochanger. It is topped off by a cake, prepared by Delia Smith. The same sculpture, in a state of disarray, is shown on the the back. There is a track listing across the top of t he back cover, which is not in the order the tracks appear on the labels. 'Gimmie Shelter' is on both the sleeve and the label. The front, and a 1/2 inch overlap on the back, are 'Laminated with 'Clarifoll' made by British Celanese Limited' (as stated on the cover).. 'Sleeve printed in England' . There is a small hole in the top, right-hand corner of the rear sleeve. This allows patches on the inner sleeve to be seen. 'Blue' (as in this case) indicates a stereo copy, 'Red' indicates mono.

Printed, poly-lined, inner sleeve with record and equipment care advice etc.

Blue Label with Silver Boxed DECCA Logo, has 'Manufactured by the Decca Record Co. Ltd.' in a small font at the foot of the label on both sides. The matrix number is upside above the catalogue number.  There is no colour poster present, nor are there any remaining stickers on the cover to indicate that there ever was one. Catalogue number:- SKL 5025 (the sleeve also bears the 'RED-MONO LK 5025' number)
