Description
This is an original MEGA RARE *** NEAR MINT *** copy of The Rolling Stones 1967 MONO pressing of 'Their Satanic Majesties Request' on DECCA TXL 103. It is the ORIGINAL first pressing from 1967 on the BLUE UNBOXED 'DECCA' LABEL and comes COMPLETE with MEGA RARE 3D SLEEVE and RED inner sleeve.
I was wondering which eBay category to list this item under.I had not listened to it for many years but knew that it was disliked in 1967 by the Stones fan base and has been viewed over time as everything from a poor Sgt. Pepper copy to a great psychedelic experimental achievement. After listening to it carefully in order to grade the vinyl for this auction I have no doubts that this is the ONLY category in which to place it - even if it IS a strange place to find Stones records ! This is as pure a slice of sixties psychedelia as anything.
The fully-laminated gatefold sleeve is NEAR MINT.It is absolutely superb and the scans fail miserably in doing it justice.It has clearly been stored in a plastic sleeve - the slightly flattened gatefold spine points to this fact as well. The only flaw that I can find is tiny 2mm wear at the top-left and lower-left corners and very slight wear along the lower edge of half the gatefold.Otherwise it's perfect.There is no spine wear, ringwear or creases.The opening is firm and straight with no wear at all.The inside, front and back are clean, unmarked and high-glossed.The 3D photo is perfect and still firmly attached.A fantastic sleeve.
The thin paper red and white inner is also in stunning NEAR MINT condition.All I can find are ringmark creases.It looks and feels like new.
The record is pressed on thick quality vinyl and grades as EXCELLENT.There are a few light marks on each side and a light scratch across Track3 Side 1 BUT this does not affect play.It plays superbly well and sounds tremendous with hardly any crackle at all.For example the quiet piano intro. to 'She's a Rainbow' sounds wonderfully clear.Labels are clean and bright with no writing and minimal spindle wear. I know from your emails that many of you - especially in the USA - want the MATRIX NUMBERS as well, so here goes.
