Description
Hi, and welcome to psych_out! auctions!!!
I've collected 50's, 60's, and early 70's records of almost every genre - Psych, Prog, Psychedelic Funk, Soul, Rhythm 'n' Blues, Pop, Folk, Garage, Acid, Freakbeat, Rock, Jazz e.t.c and everything in between for all my life!!! Obviously, 90%+ of the LP's i've ever gotten hold of are completely trashed from the hard living ways and the rock 'n' roll, drug and booze fuelled debauchery of all the wild parties of the times, but the golden 10%? Reluctantly, i've decided to offer them to all of you serious record collectors out there!!! I'm currently trying to set up a record label so unfortunately personal sacrifices have to be made when it comes to my collection, resulting in GREAT benefits for all you shrewd bidders and serious connosieurs of TRUE solid gold music history out there!!! Make no mistake, i'll try my best to consistently offer some of the VERY BEST records available on ebay, many which have taken me YEARS to find!!!
I aim to put a weekly batch up (time permitting) every wednesday, all timed to end 10 days later on saturday night. I'll only ever offer THE BEST, MOST AMAZING, MOST IMPORTANT, VERY RAREST UK 1ST PRESS ORIGINAL RELEASE RECORDS i've got!!! I won't insult you with later 2nd pressings unless they are of exceptional quality and rarity. I'm sure you love good music as much as me, especially when it's a 1st Press LP, direct from the master tape, as the musicians intended it to be heard (none of this "digitally remastered", weak reissued, remixed rubbish from hired hands with one eye on the mixing desk and the other on the clock! If these session men really knew how genius should sound, surely they would've been geniuses themselves?! There will only ever be one Hendrix, and that's just a tiny example).
I try to be one of the best sellers on ebay and would like to thank all of you potential bidders for your support and taste in music!!! I strictly grade all LP's I list, visually and sonically using the UK RRPG standards as customer satisfaction is highly important to me, and i'll always do my very best not to let you down. Be sure to add me to your favourite sellers list and check my auctions frequently as i'll be listing some gems that you just WON'T want to miss out on!!!
I think that's everything, so let the auction commence!!!
Title : The Rolling Stones - The Rolling Stones (Selftitled Debut)Label & year : Original "Unboxed" Decca LK 4605 LP , UK Mono Original 1964 1st Press with the 2:52 Tell Me demo!!!
Matrix's : Side A : XARL-6271-2A, Side B : XARL-6272-1A (1 G stampers!!!)
THIS IS IT!!! Quite simply IMPOSSIBLY RARE!!! It's said that not even 100 copies were EVER pressed up with the Tell Me demo, and i'd be MASSIVELY surprised if any more than a tiny handful have survived the 44 years since it's release!!! The story goes that when all sessions were complete for the very first Stones 1st LP, somehow an engineer managed to confuse the finished 4:06 version of Tell Me with the earlier demo recording (which is a COMPLETELY different take, arguably better, as it's much snappier and doesn't drag on for so long - it doesn't even have a guitar solo!!!) when creating the plates - this mistake was pretty much INSTANTLY discovered after production started, but Decca not being ones to waste plastic (and more importantly to them, MONEY!) sent them out with the finished 4:06 articles hoping no one would notice!!!
That little decision created without a doubt, EASILY the very rarest Stones record EVER commercially released in their entire history!!! And not only that, this is in AWESOME condition!!! I've only ever seen one copy of this aborted LP ever before, and that had been lying in a draw with no sleeve sliding about for 4 decades!!! To find one in this outstanding condition is PHENOMENAL!!! YOU MAY NEVER GET THE CHANCE AGAIN!!!
Tracklist : Route 66, I Just Want To Make Love To You, Honest I Do, I Need You Baby, Now I've Got A Witness (Like Uncle Phil and Uncle Gene), Little By Little, I'm A King Bee, Carol, Tell Me (You're Coming Back), Can I Get A Witness, You Can Make It If You Try, and Walking The Dog.
Musicians : Mick Jagger - Vocals, Keith Richard - Guitar, Charlie Watts - Drums, Bill Wyman - Bass, Brian Jones - Guitar and everything else!, and Andrew Loog Oldham - Producer.
Trivia : This was the first band who had the balls to not put their name on the front of their debut LP!!!
About : Ultra Rare Original 1964 UK 1st Press!!! This MASSIVELY RARE LP initially sold literally next to NOTHING (being aborted mere minutes into it's press) and had a MINISCULE run, and is UNBELIEVABLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND, especially in this condition!!! An absolute classic LP, and an astonishing album that really DESERVES to be the centrepiece of EVERY serious 60's record collection!!! Don't miss out on this PHENOMENALLY RARE LP!!! If you like good music and owning true pieces of history, bid now!!!
The LP :
Labels :
Classic UK 1st Press ridged "Unboxed" Decca labels!!! Both sides are GREAT with minimal signs of age, NO writing, NO stickers, and NO tears whatsoever!!! Just has a touch of wear on side A and a few ultra light spindle marks from general light use over the years!!! BRILLIANT for a 44 year old record!!! Both must grade overall at least as Very Good!!!
Record : Visual -
Spectacular Ultra Thick Original 1964 UK 1st Press Vinyl!!! Nice bright, clean and shiny as if it was just pressed!!! Fantastic jet black mirror like surfaces, it looks FANTASTIC with NO nasty scratches, groovewear, or nasty deep scuffs whatsoever!!! The only blemishes are just a few totally non-sounding mild cosmetic paper scuffs, a few of the lightest, wispy sleeve traces/cleaning lines (only visible in strong angled light) and only a few ULTRA light non sounding hairlines mostly from where it has sat or been removed from it's cover over the years!!! Of course, none of these ULTRA light blemishes interfere with play AT ALL!!! PHENOMENAL for a record of this age and rarity!!! You'll be amazed by how generally clean and unworn it is!!! Must grade overall at the very least as Very Good+!!! (graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not overgraded AT ALL!!! Customer satisfaction is of 100% importance to me) Record : Audio - Thankfully, it plays BRILLIANTLY with fantastic mono blast and clarity!!! It really sounds great with NO hops, hisses, distortion, sticks, or skips!!! Only (like pretty much all records) has a touch of low level mild "bluesman's fag" surface noise static in few and far between places such as between some tracks and on some of the quieter sections e.t.c, but it truly doesn't overshadow the music AT ALL!!! I'd even argue it gives it added soul!!! An outstanding listen - The music is TRULY loud and clear with that bass, depth, warmth and clarity you can only get from UK 1st Press vinyl!!! "Tell Me" sounds fantastic!!! Absolutely essential!!! FANTASTIC for a record of this age and rarity!!! Must grade overall audiably at least as Very Good++!!! (graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not trashed or overgraded AT ALL!!! Customer satisfaction is of 100% importance to me) Sleeve :Original UK 1964 1st press front laminated flipback "Macneill" sleeve complete with original inner!!! IMPOSSIBLE to find this sleeve in anything approaching a good condition - most are spent, torn, worn, and stained due to age and the lifestyles of the buyers of this particular LP!!! This one is NOT, and looks FANTASTIC, especially considering the nature of these fragile sleeves!!! NO bad marks AT ALL, NO splits, NO graffiti, NO writing, and still ULTRA strong and solid after all these years!!! Only has some minimal signs of ageing such as a few light laminate creases, signs of a record imprint, possibly the very SLIGHTEST signs of dulling to the still INCREDIBLY bright white unlaminated back (PHENOMENAL condition - absolutely NO stains or anything at all!!! THE best back to this sleeve i've EVER seen!!!), the most minor touch of denting to the four corners which ALL vintage LP's have, and POSSIBLY (just to be sure!!!) one or two other minor signs of age here and there, though nothing that really stands out to note at all!!! And that's truly about it!!! A FANTASTIC sleeve, and a TRUE rarity to find one as incredible as this - most have been virtually destroyed, heavily stained with graffiti and nicotine, or are just about being held together, but not this one!!! It remains ultra strong, solid, and unspoilt, and even the spine remains ultra strong, solid, unsplit, and 100% readable!!! Must grade overall at the very least as Very Good++!!! (graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not trashed or overgraded AT ALL!!! Customer satisfaction is of 100% importance to me)
Summary : An utterly FANTASTIC example of this IMPOSSIBLY, PHENOMENALLY, UNBELIEVABLY RARE classic aborted 1964 UK Mono 1st Press LP!!! You simply can't find this in ANY condition, so to find one as truly AWESOME AS THIS? UNHEARD OF!!! A TRUE ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPERTUNITY - YOU MAY NEVER GET THE CHANCE AGAIN, so don't miss out on this chance to own a true piece of 60's music history!!! Bid now!!!
Please take a look at all my other auctions for many other ultra rare classic LPs, and feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. Thanks again for looking, it's truly appreciated!! Cheers!!!I've realized that most countries have their own unique grading system. I base mine strictly on the UK RRPG grading system (occasionally with a + or a - to indicate the higher and lower ends of the grade, though I only use these if i'm having real trouble deciding!), so please check their chart for further clarity if you are unsure of what my grades mean. As a general rule, a mint record will be 100% perfect, an excellent record will be in fantastic clean condition with the occasional mild mark and minor use from the years, and a very good record will have noticeable, yet light visual markings and obvious signs of age and use, but will still remain clean with relatively light wear and will play fantastically well with plenty of life remaining in it. I very rarely offer records below the very good region unless they are of an EXCEPTIONAL rarity and playing quality...I hope this helps!
