Description
This is the original 1971 UK first pressing of Sticky Fingers by The Rolling Stones. It has a fully functioning small metal zip, which is plain, without engraving, and with a square hole (later pressings have the larger zip and/or lettering). The sleeve is open at both top and bottom. It comes complete with the 12" Richard Davis Ltd picture photo insert with the track list and credits on one side and a black and white photo on the other side. Engraved on both runout grooves is T.M.L. ROLLING STONES RECORDS. The stamped matrix numbers are COC 59100 A3 and COC 59100 B3. There is no mention of "Promotone" or any other additional text on the labels (all that came later). Unless any Stones aficionados know better, I believe these factors combined indicate that this LP is the very earliest UK release, making it very collectable indeed.
I have included the maximum of 12 photos, taken in good light, so you can judge the condition of the cover, inner and vinyl for yourself. Please examine these photos carefully before bidding. The cover has some light edge and corner rub, commensurate with its age. It has no rips, folds, writing or other significant marks, and is generally very solid with just a few very small edge lines and indentations. The zip is in perfect working order. There is just a small crease on the flap at the top of the belt buckle. The plain white inner sleeve has some light browning around the edges but is otherwise clean with no splits, some light creasing, and a small nick/tear at one corner. The additional picture inner is also clean with no marks and minimal age-related wear. The labels are clean with no marks or writing, and have some light spindle traces on both sides. The vinyl is glossy and bright. There are a number of small lines and sleeve removal traces on both sides, and one or two slightly larger marks on side one, but these would not affect play. Also please note there is a small but discernible indentation or ‘bump’ mark which occurs at the start of track 4, affecting both sides (suggesting something might have been dropped on the vinyl). This was difficult to photograph but I have tried to show it clearly in the final picture 12. I am not sure if this will affect the tracking on some decks, but on my Pro-Ject deck with tonearm downforce set at the recommended 16.5, the record played through absolutely fine with no skips or jumps. It has excellent audio, with a few light clicks here and there, and some mild background noise especially in the quieter places, again as you might expect from a 47 year old record.
I have tried to be honest and detailed in my description. I am happy to answer any additional questions about this LP. I am also happy to send further photos on request.
