ROLLING STONES Sucking in the Seventies 1981 US 1st Press COC16028 OG Die-Cut NM
Sucking in the Seventies is the Rolling Stones' 1981 compilation pulling highlights from their Atlantic Records run — the years widely considered their commercial and creative peak. Side One covers the New York funk-influenced late-70s material: "Shattered," "Hot Stuff," "Time Waits for No One," and "Fool to Cry." Side Two delivers the deeper cuts — "Mannish Boy," a live version of "When the Whip Comes Down," the previously unreleased "If I Was a Dancer (Dance Pt. 2)," "Crazy Mama," and "Beast of Burden." Two tracks — "Everything Is Turning to Gold" and "If I Was a Dancer (Dance Pt. 2)" — were previously unavailable on LP, making this more than a straightforward hits package.
This is an original US first pressing on Rolling Stones Records, COC 16028, pressed by Specialty Records Corporation (SRC) in Olyphant, PA. The SRC logo is stamped in the deadwax and SP appears on both labels — standard identifiers for this pressing.
Mastered at Sterling Sound by Greg Calbi (GC). Calbi joined Sterling in 1976 after cutting vinyl at the Record Plant for John Lennon's Walls and Bridges, David Bowie's Young Americans, and Bruce Springsteen's Born to Run. He later mastered Paul Simon's Grammy-winning Graceland and has earned multiple TEC Award nominations across his career.
Produced by The Glimmer Twins — Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.
Yellow Rolling Stones Records label with the iconic tongue logo, correct for the original 1981 US issue. The back cover features the die-cut lip and tongue design with the record visible through the cutout — the defining visual of this release. This copy is still in its original shrink wrap with the original Candy Stripe Records (Island Park, L.I., N.Y.) price sticker intact at $5.99.
Original custom printed inner sleeve present — the large "76" graphic design issued with this pressing.
