Ron Julian & the Sanctuary - Little Boy (Circo, `69) Cover: M- in shrink, signed by Ron Julian on the back ..... Disc: M- ..... Interesting and unusual custom private press jazz rarity that's been described on the Waxidermy site as "loner jazz" and there's something to that: it sounds like Scott Walker or "Westover"-era Del Shannon doing a vocal jazz record, echoes of spaced melancholy pop/folk with crooner vocals over adventurous, moody, occasionally raucous arrangements that almost approach Sun Ra's "space loneliness" vibe, but this isn't free jazz, it's more like the jazz combo at the after-hours dive in the great beyond...Plus a killer version os "Eleanor Rigby."
