RONETTES, CRYSTALS, BOB B. SOXX & THE BLUE JEANS & DARLENE LOVE "A CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR YOU" Original U.S. 1963 mono pressing on Phil Spector's Philles Records. PHLP 4005. M-/M
Genius producer Phil Spector gathered together all his top artists & gave the "Wall Of Sound" treatment to several Yule-tide favorites on this 1963 gem that sounds better & better as the years go by. Not a big hit at the time, the Ronettes version of "Frosty The Snowman" & Darlene Love's "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" have become seasonal classics. The LP ends with a Phil Spector recitation over the familiar strains of "Silent Night". Of course, it is in monaural sound- Phil's preferred mode. Arranged by Jack Nitzsche with Leon Russell on piano, Nino Tempo on guitar, Hal Blaine on drums & Sonny Bono on percussion as well as lots of other big name studio musicians. Recorded at Gold Star Studios in Hollywod.
