INCREDIBLE PHIL SPECTOR DEMO DISC AUCTIONS!
Here is an incredible collection of one-of-a-kind studio demo disc recordings from the 1950s to early '70s--all with involvement (relative or direct) by the great producer PHIL SPECTOR--the man who created the legendary "Wall Of Sound" and so many masterworks of American popular music since the 1950s.
Unlike regular-issue records, these acetate-covered metal discs were produced one at a time, to offer producers, performers, songwriters and other key music industry participants a rough mix to take home, or a potential release to be considered by record company execs. Acetates were never meant to last. Little did these folks know, at the time, that these primitive reference copies would be tomorrow's sought-after collectibles. And well they should be; they are forgotten pieces of musical history, capturing moments the public was never meant to hear.

I Love Him Like I Love My Very Life
(lot of two 12" one-sided Apple 33 rpm demo discs)
Here are Ronnie's as-yet-unissued versions, recorded in February 1971, of the brilliant Toni Wine-Irwin Levine-Phil Spector song originally released by Carla Thomas (as "I Loved You Like I Love My Very Life") and subsequently, though years after she recorded it, by Darlene Love.
You're bidding here on a set of two one-sided 12" acetates on The Beatles' Apple label, each of which contains five unique takes - four complete ones and one aborted one on each side - of unreleased Ronnie Spector performances produced by her then-husband, Phil (possibly with Harrison). It's fascinating to be a fly on the wall during the evolution of the ill-fated sessions, because it offers a unique window through which to view Mr. and Mrs. Spector's creative processes.
Based on a variety of evidence, expert Kristofer Engelhardt, in his book "Beatles Undercover," identifies the players thusly: "Ronnie Spector: Lead Vocals; George Harrison: Slide Guitar & (probable) Acoustic Guitar; Jim Gordon: (probable) Drums; Ringo Starr: (possible) Percussion; Phil Spector: (possible) Keyboards; Leon Russell: (probable) Keyboards; Klaus Voorman or Carl Radle: (probable) Bass."
These are on Apple Records Custom Recording labels with typewritten reference numbers for the respective takes: RS1, RS2, RS3, RS7, and RS8 on disc one and RS9, RS10, RS16, RS17, and RS18 on disc two.
The sound sample on offer H E R E is from the final take, RS18, and thus the most "finished"; to hear how it got there, you'll need to buy the acetates, sold only as a pair. However, if you're the winning bidder, you'll never actually have to play the records, as we'll include a CD with all 10 takes along with the original acetates from The Beatles' Saville Row Apple Studios.

Priority Mail shipping is (generally speaking) $7.50 to East Coast, $6.50 to Midwest, $5.50 to West Coast. Results may vary, depending on packed weight of record(s).
