Description
RORY STORM & HURRICANES/ BEATLES - RARE ORIOLE SINGLE: Catalogue number 45-CB 1858. This is your chance to bid on this highly collectible seven inch vinyl single by the legendary Merseybeat group Rory Storm & The Hurricanes. This very rare single was issued in 1963 on the UK Oriole label. As everyone knows the former drummer of Rory Storm’s group was one RINGO STARR. He left the group in 1962 to join a promising scouse ensemble called THE BEATLES. This fantastic single features the following tracks: DR FEELGOOD c/w I CAN TELL Both sides are wonderful slabs of raucous R’N’B - Liverpool style. Raw & exciting, the character of Rory shines through! It was no wonder they called him Mr Showman. Listening to this disc, it is a mystery why this group did not enjoy greater success. Sadly Rory took his own life in the 1970’s. Going off this performance it was a real tragedy for the music business. VINYL: The vinyl is in very good condition. There are some surface marks which are to be expected on a record that is 47 years old! It plays really well, there are some pops and clicks (particularly at the start of the A side) but you get this with most 60’s vinyl. The excitement of the music overcomes any slight audio defects, and they do not diminish the listening pleasure at all in my opinion. It is authentic sixties rhythm & blues that’s meant to be heard this way...not on some sterile CD ! LABEL: The label is in great condition. The paper round the spindle is slightly rougher as it should be on the ORIOLE pressings. Clearly the previous owner of this record was MAVIS OWEN as her name is written in biro on the yellow segments of the label on both sides. Quite clearly she was proud to own it & so she should have been. Photos show the actual item: Fully guaranteed. (If not satisfied, we refund - in full.)
