Description
ROSSINI / THE ACADEMY OF ST MARTIN-IN-THE-FIELDS / NEVILLE MARRINER - " ROSSINI STRING OVERTURES ", Argo Record Company (ZRG 506) Stereo, 1967.
Very rare 1967, first UK Stereo pressing of the Argo LP with the all important dark green, grooved label with the silver Argo oval - see photo.
English issue and pressing.
Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeve (the original inner sleeve had been lost and could not be included in this particular auction)
In the name of a good auction, I will start this LP at just 99p!
CONDITION:
VINYL = EXCELLENT- (No big scratches, no groove damage, no distortion, just a few light spindle trails, etc. Under a bright grading lamp I can make out a few very light marks and faint surface scuffs visible on the vinyl's surface - although none of these correspond directly to any audible defects. It generally plays well - mostly free from interuption from distortion, clunks, excessive surface, etc... when listening in headphones, there is some very faint occasional surface noise audible during the run-in and some of the quieter sections and as the record played. Mostly, the small imperfections on this LP are visual and generally it plays more to a straight EX standard... but just to be safe I'd rather give the bidder the benefit of the doubt.
Overall, although it is not quite perfect, it is by no means ruined by these minor imperfections and would still make a good honest copy for someone to play and enjoy.
Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)
SLEEVE = V.G. (No rips, tears, defacing, big creases, heavy ring-wear, etc. Does have a few very small creases and some pretty heavy wear to the corners of the sleeve, plus some light ring-wear and foxing on the rear sleeve - see photos for further clarification)
