Description

RARE ORIGINAL 45 rpm by ROY ORBISON - "THE TEEN KINGS" on Je-wel 101. This is the very rare 1st pressing with Roy's name misspelled on one side as "Oribson." Later copies corrected that. I would grade it VG- to VG.

The songs are "OOBY DOOBY" and "TRYING TO GET YOU."

The session was recorded March 4, 1956 at Norman Petty's studio in Clovis, New Mexico. Elvis and Johnny Cash had tried to get Sam Phillips at Sun Records to audition Roy with no luck prior to the record. After the Je-Wel single was cut, Cecil Holifield played the record over the telephone to Sam Phillips and after hearing it, Sam contacted Roy to come to Memphis where he was signed and recorded for Sun. The Sun version of Ooby Dooby is a different version and was recorded at Sun Studios.
