Description
RUMPLESTILTSKIN - Rumpelstiltskin
Original 1970 Australia VINYL LP in UK Sleeve
Catalogue Number:
- Bell SBLL-130
Description:
- Original 1970 Australia vinyl LP in UK made laminated gatefold sleeve
- This rare heavy prog rock LP was produced by Shel Talmy who worked with the Kinks, the Who, Pentangle etc.
- Rumpelstiltskin was a British heavy-rock band from the early '70s who released only two utterly forgotten records: Rumplesiltskin, released in 1970, and Black Magician a year later.
- The band was a minor supergroup of session musicians – of particular note, guitarist Alan Parker and bassist Herbie Flowers, who would later back Lou Reed on Transformer and play together on Bowie's Diamond Dogs. They also recorded with other notable artists such as Marianne Faithful and Donovan. Flowers and Parker, along with American soul singer Madeline Bell, were mainstays in Blue Mink.
- It is estimated that Flowers has played bass on 500 hit records for the likes of David Bowie, T-Rex, Elton John, and Cat Stevens to name a few, and he later fronted his own progressive rock band, Sky. Alan Parker was the guitarist for The Strawbs and CCS and has also played sessions too numerous to list.
