Description

Here is a great vintage Rush debut album.

It has the super-rare red lettering on the cover (only the first 5,000 were made with red letters, the millions of reissues that followed all had pink letters).

The back cover has a Moon Records logo (also deleted from all later pressings).

It is on the red Mercury label, which was their American distributor.

However, this Mercury label says "Made in Canada"?!

It got a rave review:

"The ground pounding self titled debut album from Rush is my personal favorite recording from the popular Canadian group.

"It's pure rock 'n' roll from the dazed 'n' confused '70s.

"Crafted for pushin' the speakers from a cherry Mustang on a hot summer night, the boys from drop-the-puck territory scored big time on their first slap shot from the studio.

"There is definitely a heavy Led Zeppelin influence prevalent throughout the 1974 release from the power trio, as evident by "Finding My Way", "In the Mood" and "Take a Friend".

"In addtion, Rush score with the laid back and lengthy "Here Again".

"As Rush matured and leaned toward an intellectual and progressive sound, the group sacrificed the straight-ahead, hard rock approach that dominates the hard edged debut effort."

"From the opening cut, "Finding My Way", to the epic seven-minute blue collar closing track, "Working Man", the entire disc rips, as Geddy Lee's unique vocals and Alex Lifeson's guitar work guide the eight song recording.

"Rush is an overlooked gem from the band's wealth of recordings.

"John Rutsey rest in peace..."  -rateyourmusic.com

Their first and best album, before Neil Peart ruined them with his Ayn Rand-worshipping sorcery lyrics (good drummer, 'though).

Super-rare Canadian Mercury pressing.  Apparently more rare than the Moon label pressing.

The cover is very nice, with light wear and creasing.

The vinyl has numerous light marks and scuffs and looks like a party record.

The good news is it plays great.

A great rare piece of early Rush history.
