ART BLAKEY & THE JAZZ MESSENGERS LP (SELF-TITLED) (Blue Note Records BLP 4003).
RVG is stamped in the dead wax of this Deep Groove pressing to note that it was mastered by Rudy van Gelder. There is an ear etched on each side of the dead wax, mas well. Rare original Deep Groove mono pressing on the blue & white label with 47 W 63rd St address. With Lee Morgan & Bobby Timmons. Pressed on a nice thick slab of vinyl. (Etched Matrix Number: "BN-LP-4003-A RVG").
COVER - VG-
Four-inch top seam split & six-inch bottom seam split. Back cover shows a small line of tearing and some tiny areas of writing. Front cover looks pretty decent with two faint parallel shadow lines across it & great unfaded rich color & no stains. No cut-out marks. Hardly any ring wear. Nice flat cover with no waves, ripples, bends or bows. Great reflective gloss thanks to superior lamination! Illustration & print are sharp and are free of sun washout. Spine has a tidy five-inch split but some of the words are still readable. Noticeable corner banging. Beautiful label is free of marks, stains, stickers, writing & scuffs. Sharp cut hole with faint transparent spindle brushings.
DISC - VG
This still remains in fairly good shape. No skips & no heavy scratches. Nice thick platter free of warps. There are flecks and marks scattered throughout, which to my ears fall easily into the realm of acceptable.
