RYPDAL / VITOUS / DeJOHNETTE Self-Titled LP | 1979 ECM US Press | Jazz-Rock Vinyl
A monumental summit meeting of three giants of modern jazz. This is an original 1979 US first pressing of the legendary self-titled trio album from Terje Rypdal, Miroslav Vitous, and Jack DeJohnette on the iconic ECM Records.
This album is a masterclass in texture, atmosphere, and improvisation. It captures the explosive and telepathic interplay between three of the most forward-thinking musicians of their generation: Terje Rypdal's soaring, ethereal guitar and synthesizer soundscapes; Miroslav Vitous's deep, melodic foundation on both double bass and electric piano; and Jack DeJohnette's powerful, dynamic, and endlessly creative drumming. The result is a landmark album of 70s jazz-rock and contemporary jazz.
The ECM Sound: An Audiophile Production
Recorded at the legendary Talent Studio in Oslo and produced by the visionary Manfred Eicher with iconic engineer Jan Erik Kongshaug at the controls, this album is a prime example of the pristine, spacious, and detailed "ECM Sound." This original US pressing, manufactured by Warner Bros., translates that superb recording to high-quality vinyl.
Detailed Condition Report (Goldmine Standard)
Vinyl: Near Mint (NM or M-)
A stunning, archive-quality copy. The vinyl is exceptionally clean and retains its original deep, glossy lustre. It appears to have been played very few times, if ever, and handled with extreme care. We cannot find any notable marks, even under strong light. A top-tier example.
Sleeve: Excellent (EX) / NM
The original sleeve is in fantastic condition. It is very clean, solid, and sharp, with a lovely matt finish. There is only the most minimal, faint sign of shelf wear, with strong corners and edges. The spine is crisp and perfectly legible. An outstanding example, as shown in the detailed photos.
