RZA As Bobby Digital In Stereo ORIG Double L.P. + Inners Wu-Tang Clan EX/NM

RARE Original 1998 Gee Street Double LP pressing of RZA’s ‘RZA as Bobby Digital In Stereo’ LP (Catalogue Reference: Gee Street GEE1003801).  I’m convinced this is a European pressing of this however, as the rear refers to ‘Gee Street Records Incorporated’ it would suggest that it is an American pressing however, the sleeve also makes reference to V2 Records.  What I do know for certain is that it is the original LP issue.  I purchased this second hand about 6 years ago and aside from a test play for this listing it has never been played in all that time which is why it is going.  It is a stunning copy.  This consists of a double vinyl pressing with each record stored in a card inner sleeve which are themselves contained in a single cover (i.e. this isn’t a gatefold affair but a rather flimsy, European-style sleeve).  The vinyl has been graded under an intense light and it is immediately obvious that this copy has never seen heavy play.  I would guess it has seen a couple of plays at most.  The only flaw is a scuff somewhat like a spindle-drag on Side B.  It has no depth, cannot be heard (I’ve checked) and has an appearance a little like a shadow on the playing surface.  I would think that it is very, very likely that it was a by-product of the manufacturing process because I remain unconvinced that this had ever been played prior to my test play for this listing.  Due to this imperfection I will grade Record One as being in EXCELLENT condition (there is absolutely nothing else to note) and Record Two as being in NEAR MINT condition.  As noted above the vinyl is stored in inner card sleeves and again it is obvious they haven’t seen much handling.  The only thing you could say about these inner sleeves is that they perhaps have a ‘suggestion’ of ring-wear however, they could have been pressed yesterday (not nearly 20 years ago).  The inner sleeves are graded as being in NEAR MINT condition.  As I have already noted the sleeve is a flimsy affair and therefore perhaps shows it’s age a little more readily than the other parts of this package however, again it really doesn’t look nearly 20 years old.  The sleeve is largely as white as the day it was pressed (I note a suggestion of yellowing along the opening edge of the sleeve) and the flaws really are quite minor.  There is a suggestion of fraying to each corner and the bottom right-hand corner has received a light knock.  I note some impressions in the soft cardboard on the front of the sleeve in the centre which aren’t immediately obvious and can only really be seen when the sleeve is angled under an intense light.  There are a couple of creases along the spine where this has perhaps sat in a record rack at some time minus the records (and therefore bent over a little).  If you angle the sleeve under a light there is a suggestion of ring-wear.  The sleeve is graded as being in EXCELLENT+ condition and like the rest of the parts of this set has clearly not seen much handling.

Concluding Remarks

This is arguably as good as the day it was pressed.  Please check my other auctions for a similarly immaculate copy of the Wu-Tang Clan’s ‘Wu Chronicles’ on Double LP as well as a large selection of Funk, RnB and Soul collectables in similarly immaculate condition.  Save me as a favourite seller as there is plenty more where this came from!

I have been a collector for in excess of 15 years now and regard myself as a conservative grader.  I know from experience that there is nothing worse than buying an item which is described with superlatives only for it to arrive and look like it has been scrapped along the floor (!).  As a rule I don’t submit anything to auction which I wouldn’t be happy receiving myself.  I endeavour to be accurate with my grading and all items are graded under an intense light.  Please take a look through my feedback as I’d like to think it speaks for itself. 

Returns Policy

If you are not entirely happy with your purchase then please contact me within 7 days of receipt.  The buyer is expected to meet the return postage costs.

Payment Methods

Domestic buyers can pay via Cheque, PayPal or Postal Order.  Overseas buyers are always welcome and are required to pay via PayPal.  Payment is expected within 7 days of auction end unless otherwise agreed.

Postage Costs

I have had to bring my service in-line with changes to Royal Mail Terms and Conditions effective of April 2013.  Previously items sent via standard post were automatically covered up to the value of £46.00 however, standard postage now only covers items up to the value of £20.00.  Items with an opening value >£20.00 will include domestic Signed For postage costs automatically.  Items with an opening value <=£20.00 and which complete with a value <=£20.00 will continue to be dispatched via standard post unless otherwise agreed (i.e. the buyer indicates a preference otherwise).  Items which have an opening value <=£20.00 but whose final value is >£20.00 will be subject to enhanced postage costs in order to cover the extra insurance which is required.  I hope this is as straightforward as I can make it?  Ultimately, please don’t make payment until you’ve received an invoice from me and if you aren’t happy with the invoice you receive then I’m always open to discussion.  Buyers should be aware that both Ebay and PayPal take a % of postage charges (i.e. they are higher than I’d ideally want them to be).

Multiple purchases will be subject to consolidated postage costs.  I will contact you at the end of the auction to confirm these costs.

Proof of postage is always obtained and retained.
