Hattie McDaniel who played "Mammy" in the film epic "Gone With The Wind" was not only the first black performer to win an Academy Award, but also the first black woman to sing on the radio in America. In addition, she was a comedienne, stage actress and television star.

But of importance here, is that she recorded some scarce records in the mid 1920's.

Accompanied by Lovie Austin's Serenaders, she does "Boo Hoo Blues" and "I Wish I Had Somebody" on Race Series Okeh 8434.

Recorded in Chicago on November 17, 1926, this record is in excellent to excellent-plus (E to E+) condition, however there are some light stain marks which make some very light noise.
