Race Series Flag Columbia 14028-D The Four Spades
 


Clarence Williams is on piano, Buddy Christian on banjo, Ernest Elliott on saxophone, and either Lorenzo Tio or Bob Fuller is on clarinet, and calling themselves The Four Spades they play "Squabblin' Blues" and "Making Up Blues" on Race Series flag label Columbia 14028-D.

Recorded in New York on June 24, 1924, this 78rpm disc is in excellent-plus (E+) condition. There is a dig that ticks on the B side. It ticks three times but passes using a schoolhouse Caliphone type machine, but jumps and sometimes hangs on a very light Stanton tonearm.
