Description:

RCA Victor M‑710 Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No.3 78 Shellac Historic Record

This listing features a historic Victor Red Seal 78 RPM recording of Sergei Rachmaninoff performing his own Piano Concerto No. 3 in D Minor, Op. 30, accompanied by The Philadelphia Orchestra under Eugene Ormandy. Recorded in 1939–1940 and issued as part of the Musical Masterpiece Series (M‑710), this is one of the most important classical recordings of the 20th century.

Rachmaninoff’s performance is legendary—fast, lyrical, and deeply personal—captured during his final years and preserved on high‑quality RCA Victor shellac pressings. Collectors prize these discs for their historical significance, early Red Seal engineering, and the rare opportunity to hear the composer interpret his own concerto.

This disc features catalog number 17481‑A, part of the multi‑disc album set originally released in 1941. A must‑have for collectors of classical 78s, Rachmaninoff enthusiasts, and early orchestral recordings.
