Description

This is a very nice copy of Classic Records 180g pressing of Rachmaninoff’s “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini” with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra conducted by Fritz Reiner and Falla’s “Nights in the Gardens of Spain” with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra under Ernrique Jorda on 4 single-sided 180 g.  45 RPM records.  The piano soloists in both works is Arthur Rubinstein.  The 45 RPM set is a complete recording LSC-2430-45.  When I first bought this new, the records were cleaned with a VPI record cleaner and treated with LAST record preservative.  More recently it was recleaned with Audio Intelligent Fluids on a VPI cleaner and on an Audio Desk ultra sonic record cleaner.  It has also been demagnetized with a Furutech DeMag.

Disk one has a ¾” light scratch at the beginning of side 1 which results in light ticks for about the first 3 minutes.  I only observered 1 tick after that over the remainder of the side. Side 2 has approximately 6 light ticks within the first 2 minutes of the side but is very quiet after that.  Side 3 has two tiny (~ 1 mm) scratches about 1/3 of the way into the side which causes several light ticks.  There are also 4 light ticks within the first minute. Other than these two obeservations, the remainder of the side is quiet.  Side 4 plays mostly very quietly with 12 light ticks noticed over the side. I have only played the records a few times on various VPI tables I have owned (HW-19 MKIV, TNT 3.5, and Classic 4) using either Lyra or Benz Mico Ruby cartridges. The sound is naturally open and detailed. The cover for record 1 is the original glossy jacket that Classic used for their 180g issues, while jackets 2-4 are plain white with a sticker.    There are no seam splits or ring wear, however jacket 1 has a small nick along the top edge approximately 2” from the opening; jacket 2 has some slight compression on the upper left corner; jacket 3 has some slight compression on the lower left corner; and jacket 4 has some slight compression on the upper left corner.  Only side A of each LP is pressed.  Side B is blank.  For this set, all records have the regular glossy 180g jacket with a sticker as was originally issued by Classic Records. Multiple records can be combined in an order to save shipping costs.
