PLEASE NOTE THAT THE LISTING PICTURE IS A GENERIC PICTURE AND NOT THE ACTUAL SHOW. SINCE ALL RADIO SHOWS OF THE SAME TITLE LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME, IT IS EASIER TO JUST SHOW ONE PICTURE FOR THEM ALL.
ALSO NOTE THAT IF YOU BUY FIVE ITEMS FROM MY EBAY STORE, YOU CAN CHOOSE A SIXTH FREE OF CHARGE. JUST EMAIL ME THROUGH THE EBAY MESSAGE SYSTEM WITH YOUR CHOICE. THIS SAVES YOU 20% ON YOUR TOTAL ORDER.
My absolute favorite country show is unfortunately one of the rarest. It is called The Ralph Emery Show and was one of the most popular shows syndicated on radio ever.
Every day from Nashville, Ralph hosted the show. One of the special parts of this show is that he had one artist or group co host the show with him for the entire week LIVE IN THE STUDIO.
It made for some great radio that has never been equaled. THESE ARE NO CANNED INTERVIEWS THAT YOU HEAR - ITS RALPH AND HIS GUEST(S) INTERACTING TOGETHER IN THE STUDIO ALONG WITH MANY OF THE FEATURED ARTIST'S MUSIC.
Ralph Emery, as you know, is one of the greatest legends of country music broadcasting and his shows on WSM are legendary. These shows show up rarely on ebay and I am offering my last few shows over the next month. After that they are gone and that's it!
The show comes on FIVE STEREO LP's in great condition (I'd say an M - AS A MINIMUM) There are no cue sheets with this show but there is a valid reason! These shows aired at the very beginning of syndicated programming on LP's. Before this era, shows were distibuted on the more cumbersome reel to reel tape and were returned to the distributor after every show to be bulk erased, taped over with the next show, and resent to the broadcast station. Well, in the late 70's and early 80's copiers were still not common in the business world and things were still largely mimeographed. (Remember how lucky you felt when your teacher allowed you to use the mimeograph machine to reproduce worksheets?) Well, guess what - after over 30 years those mimeographed cue sheets have faded so much they are mostly not readable. Guess no one thought that they had to last that long!
Anyway, each show has on its plain white sleeve the artist name so I knew who was featured. The rest is up to you! Having cue sheets is really not a big deal because you can listen in as if you were hearing it live for the first time on the day it broadcast and if you really want to know the order of songs you can write it down. I also have knocked several dollars off the price to compensate for their not being there in case you will miss them! My prices are already very low for such a classic show and especially one on 5 lp's representing 5 hours of great music every week.
The important thing, THESE RECORDS ARE IN PRISTINE SHAPE. They have been stored very well and look like the day they were pressed. You can't do better. And the music is just fabulous. Check out the sample show listing below to get an idea of how a show is presented by the master, Ralph Emery.
THE GUEST HOST WAS IN THE STUDIO FOR EVERY SHOW THAT WEEK. YOU GET FIVE LP'S IN BEAUTIFUL SHAPE WITH THE FEATURED ARTIST IN STUDIO FOR THE WHOLE WEEK INTRODUCING THEIR SONGS, WITH ALL THE STORIES THAT GO WITH THEM, ALONG WITH OTHER SONGS FROM CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS THAT YOU KNOW AND LOVE. You will never get a more special, unique opportunity to own these rare shows.
This week's edition of shows were aired from OCTOBER 16 THROUGH OCTOBER 20, 1978, FIVE ONE HOUR SHOWS, an hour each day for a week on one lp front and back.
THE SPECIAL GUEST THIS WEEK WAS STELLA PARTON AND DON KING LIVE WITH RALPH EMERY ALL FIVE HOURS OF THE WEEK!!!
Go to Wikipedia or any other on line site and read about Ralph Emery and his daily shows. You will learn the full history and see why every artist of country music appeared on his show. He was a respectful master of the genre and you will love these shows.
Remember, when you buy this show, not only will you own the tunes but also interspersed between songs is fascinating commentary on the artists and songs.
Also, keep in mind that this and all radio shows are not just about the music - the music can be found anywhere. It is the mixture of great music and great announcing that makes it so entertaining. As well, it is a VITAL piece of radio history and Americana. You just aren't going to find these syndicated radio shows anymore. Most people don't even know they exist!
Think about it; did you before you stumbled across this listing??? You are on the ground floor to owning some of the most unique radio shows in history.
AND, MOST IMPORTANTLY, THERE ARE ONLY A HANDFUL LEFT. LITERALLY ONLY A HANDFUL. THERE IS NO INFORMATION AS TO HOW MANY WERE PRESSED ORIGINALLY. IT DEPENDS ON HOW MANY STATIONS WERE AIRING THE SHOW, PERHAPS 100? JUST THINK, YOU COULD OWN ONE OF A SERIES OF SHOWS THAT ONLY TOTALED 100 OR A FEW MORE AT ITS PEAK. Think of what they will be worth in a few years! (IF you wanted to sell.) I am selling to share with other music lovers what I was able to get at a reasonable price
As always, I charge only shipping on the first show you buy for U.S. buyers and International buyers (for multi lp shows like this, additional shows ship for $8 additional. Any other item ships for no additional charge) so the more you buy the more money you will save.
Good Luck and God Bless You.
