Radiohead OK COMPUTER All-Original 2 LP U.K. 1st Pressing (1997)
VG+ vinyl, VG+ gatefold sleeve, NM original inner sleeves
The one surefire way to identify an authentic U.K. first pressing is to examine the deadwax.
The *stamped* matrix numbers in some early reissues will be identical to those of the first pressing. BUT, the reissues will also include an additional very lightly *etched* and easy-to-miss number, 8552291.
Collectors and sellers alike often miss this detail--as it is hard to see--and so they erroneously believe they have a first pressing.
I know this from experience. I have acquired a few authentic U.K. first pressings over the years, but along the way I have been disappointed more times than I care to recount by well-meaning sellers who simply aren't savvy to this point.
Here is an opportunity to own the genuine article. It is among the best examples I have seen. This copy is a true all-original U.K. first pressing without 8552291 in the runnout. The vinyl is heavyweight and flat. There are a few insignificant marks, but none are audible on my system.
The original inner sleeves are free from seam splits and are printed on heavy card stock with the D-shaped die-cut thumb notch.
The gatefold sleeve does show signs of age with a bit of shelf-wear, most notably along the bottom edge where one can find two tiny holes a half inch apart (photos 4 and 10). The sleeve still presents well, the few flaws speaking to the provenance of this particular copy. There are zero seam splits, creases, writing or other flaws. WILL read, "Manufactured and Distributed by EMI," in the barcode text.
The vinyl under the labels will be flat. There is no ridge.* *Compare to the 2008 repress.
