Description
This Scotch 200 (1/4 inch 200ft) open reel magnetic tape is offered on behalf of The Golden Dawn's George Kinney who recorded this sole surviving (to anyone's knowledge) document of the band Raincrow. The live occasion is The Jade Room, Austin Texas, December 9th 1971. Personnel: Stacy Sutherland (guit, voc. on 1 track only), Obi Hardeman (all other vocals), Ronnie Leatherman (bass), Bobby Rector (drums) Cecil Morris (harmonica). Leatherman and Sutherland are of course former bandmates from Texas psychedelic legends the 13th Floor Elevators and Rector was in The Golden Dawn.
Tracks: 1. Let It Roll 2. Slippin & Slidin 3. Matilda 4. Stagger Lee 5. So Long 6. Instrumental 7. All Along The Watchtower 8. Brown Sugar 9. I Feel Good 10. Up On Cripple Creek 11. Something On Your Mind 12. Money 13. Shadow Fallin' 14. For Your Love 15. Slippin & Slidin Side II 1. Band Song 2. Blues Instruental 3. Honky Tonk Women. The style of the music is R&B and the perfomance excellent as might be expected from these talented musicians. There are no psychedelic overtones to the performance, however. Nevertheless the tape is still obviously of huge interest to collectors of Texas rock and psych due to its uniqueness and interest in the performers.
Quality: Box has extensive damage to bottom left corner, and bottom seal has come unstuck. Rest of box is very good/excellent. Handwritten information by Kinney in the back of the box lists band members, tracks, etc. Reel is in excellent condition. Needs new leader. Audio: The level was high and there is some distortion in places, but overall audio quality is excellent. Some tracks on Side II are incomplete.
A few CDr copies of this tape have been circulated in the past, but none of them is complete. This is the only way to obtain the full recording in optimum condition. Packaging and shipping will be extra and at cost. Preferred payment method is Paypal, but I will also accept GB Pounds paid via a British bank. Sorry, no picture available.
