Description
This is a rare private label recording of a Ralph Sutton and George Barnes jazz session. The record and sleeve are in excellent shape, please see the pictures. The song titles are hand written in blue ink with no album title or record company. The runout matrix is stamped 15975A; 15975B, further around on the matrix is "RAH" or "2AH". The record shows no signs of wear or marks, smudges, etc. It needs a proper dusting, but appears rarely if ever played and very well kept. The record comes housed in a plain white inner sleeve. The cover has some smudging on the front, noticeable on inspection but very light. There is an inch seam split smack in the middle bottom. The white jacket says "Swingin' on Stratford" on the front. The back has a letter glued on from Dick Hencke explaining that this record was recorded by Ralph Sutton and George Barnes while enroute to Aspen Colorado. They stopped off in Ralph's home town to say hello and apparently did this impromptu jazz session at someone named Pinkstaff's house (at least per the letter).. It is made out to, Fern and Harry. It is signed at the bottom, "at our house!" -November 1966 Marie and Virgil Pinkstaff. I believe this is a really rare private recording that may never come up for sale again. I found 3 sales on popsike and this copy seems in the best shape. This item will be securely packed and shipped by USPS Priority Mail within the USA and USPS Priority Mail International overseas.
