Richard Alpert (born April 6, 1931, Boston, Massachusetts, USA – died December 22, 2019, Maui, Hawaii, USA), also known as Baba Ram Dass, was a contemporary spiritual teacher who wrote the 1971 bestseller Be Here Now. He was known for his association with Dr. Timothy Leary and Acid Experiments at Harvard University in the early 1960s.
