Description
This is a very rare original issue from 1953 of one of the earliest recordings of the famed experimental street musician and instrument inventor and builder, Moondog, in an Extended Play 45 grouping of his songs, "On The Streets Of New York", as recorded and edited by Tony Schwartz as part of his project, "New York 19", this being the second in that series. The songs are a blending of Moondog's influences from both Oriental and Occidental music, and he's accompanied by his wife, Suzuko, who transcribed much of his music as well.
The record is listed as serial number MREP-A2, and was manufactured by Hollis Music, Inc., of New York. The vinyl is in near mint condition, appearing virtually un-played, with a bit of light nicking and wear visible to small portions of the black paper label at center, and the cardboard sleeve is also quite fine overall, with black and white pictorial illustration of Moondog to the front and credits to the back, showing some light soiling and minor edge wear to the rear of the sleeve and a tiny pencil notation to the upper right hand sleeve back as well, denoting the price at that time, 1.47. Clean edges all around and sharp corners, and an overall very fine example of this rarity.
Please don't hesitate to email me with any questions you might have regarding this item, and I'll do my best to provide a satisfactory and timely reply. Overseas bidders are welcome, but must also take into account that shipping to other countries may translate into somewhat higher postal charges, and that if you wish to have the item insured, when the service is available, it will also have to be declared as to actual value for customs, which will add more fees and perhaps value added taxes in your respective countries. I'm willing to be flexible about shipping items at the cheapest possible rates, but can't be responsible for items that are either damaged or go missing when not insured against that unfortunate possibility.
