Description
This is a 45 rpm acetate (metal plastic coated disc with typed label) that was given to a radio station to promote and advertise the Fall 1963 MOTOWN records "Motor Town Revue".My research has found this to be the first year of the legendary Motor Town Revue.Side one features a frantic announcer listing the acts,Stevie Wonder,Miracles,Marvin Gaye,Martha and the Vandellas,Mary Wells,Kim Weston,Contours, comic Bill Murray(?) the band and it runs one minute.Side two features short spots by Mary Wells,Smokey Robinson and a very young Stevie Wonder giving the names of the acts. The spot pushes Stevie Wonders latest hit FINGERTIPS.The Mary Wells track has a pencil line through it and a notation "DO NOT USE".The acetate plays well but there was some kind of "gunk" at the start of both sides,I have cleaned some of it off and it DOES effect play but does not keep the tracks from playing through. If a person wanted to take a chance they may be able to clean off more but these acetates are pretty fragile.Overall this is a very nice piece of MOTOWN history which I am going to grade a low VG+ would be higher if not for the "gunk'.
