1970 Original Collectible GEM!
CUBY & THE BLIZZARDS
King Of The World
\ USA - Philips - 600 331
Rare 1970 original first pressing of a great electrified blues burner by this sixties band who made a strong name for themselves in the Dutch underground beat/garage scene ...Cuby & the Blizzard's exciting sound led by vocalist Harry (Cuby) Muskee and guitarist Eelco Gelling won praise all over Europe -- the bands 45's & albums are highly sought and praised collectibles some 40 years later. The rare 1970 USA release contains some of thrir most excellent tracks from 1966 thru 1969...
Although unknown to the English-speaking market, Cuby & the Blizzards have been one of Holland's top garage-blues bands since the mid-'60s. Some of their early singles had a beat/punk orientation, particularly "Stumble & Fall" and "Your Body Not Your Soul," both of which are of the best tracks of the period, next to the Dutch Outsiders. They quickly settled into a straighter blues groove, however. Their claims to fame in the larger rock/pop world are that they briefly backed Van Morrison just after his departure from Them and the beginning of his solo career; also, at one point their superb lead guitarist Eelco Gelling was asked to join John Mayall's Bluebreakers, although he declined which, with his amazing expressive technique, would have no doubt put him in similar status of ex-Bluesbreakers guitarists Eric Clapton, Peter Green & Mick Taylor.
