We have a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 2/3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers.
We mail all paid orders out once a week on Fridays/Saturdays. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule to Monday. We strive to keep our shipping and handling costs as close to actual charges as reasonable. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. Please be aware we have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.

RARE 1971 ORIGINAL first pressing in great gatefold cover on the highly collected BRITISH Dawn Records label home to legendary early 70's UK progressive albums...
A great companion to McLaughlin`s phenomenal 1969 debut Extrapolation in a renewed association with super-reedsman John Surman. Again, this is not really a McLaughlin solo effort but a collaborative effort with four outstanding musicians from the post bop school conducting elaborate free-form jazz experiments.
The album contains six long tracks which are more or less improvisations over initially stated themes. Oddly, vibraphone replaces the keyboards of the day such as the Hammond organ or a Fender-Rhodes piano. It definitely offers some contrast and we even get to hear a piece centered around this instrument. As for McLaughlin`s playing, he`s much more focused and sure of himself than on the patchy My Goals Beyond, where he can`t decide whether he`s a jazz-man or a raga-man while appearing as a Jimi Hendrix re-incarnation on the psychedelic Devotion, both of which are also from the 1970-71 period. He sounds like a jazzman more than ever here and Dave Holland`s double bass gives the quintet an even "jazzier" feel. Although devoid of any fusion or rock influences McLaughlin`s playing does get devious at times foreshadowing some elements of the firebreathing Mahavishnu Orchestra with heated exchanges between guitar, winds and vibes.
Overshadowed by the onslaught of the fusion jazz movement which turned ears away from purer forms of jazz which were uncontaminated with technological advancements and rock influences, Where fortune Smiles contains some innovative contemporary jazz in the free form mode which is worth turning the clock back for.

CONDITION: The cover is a golden matte material gatefold, somewhat thicker than the standard UK issue of the day...it's in great shape, "EX" (excellent) having no problems other than very slight previous handling visible and light sticker residue at top left ... clean, very collectible near 40 year old UK DAWN Original.
The vinyl is all shiny over both sides "EX" (excellent) plays top level and has clean UK DAWN labels...
