Description
Up for auction is the very rare Original Afrobeat "Expensive Shit" LP by Fela Kuti on Editions Markossa Records #EM 23-15 from 1975. Visually graded using Goldmine standards, the vinyl rates a near mint with beautiful shine and just a hint of wear. The original jacket is also near mint with minor wear and a top seam that just needs to be re-glued (not split). A gorgeous copy of this hard to find record. DO NOT MISS OUT! Low starting bid and no reserve! Will be shipped in a sturdy record mailer with the record outside of the jacket within a protective plastic sleeve. Please see my other auctions for more rare vinyl.
Expensive Shit is the twelfth full-length album by Afrobeat pioneer Fela Ransome Kuti and his Africa '70 band. It was ranked #78 on Pitchfork Media's "Top 100 Albums of the 1970s". The title of the album refers to an incident in which the Nigerian police tried to arrest Kuti by planting a joint on him. Kuti managed to eat the joint, prompting police to bring him into custody and wait for him to produce the excrement. According to legend he managed to use another inmate's feces and was eventually released.
