Description

This is a souvenir of mine which I picked up at a small PX at the Airport in Vietnam waiting for my plane ride back to "the world" (U.S.).  Yes, I'm a Vietnam veteran and bought this just before heading home in December, 1968.

It's a documentary recording with narration, voices and sounds of South Viet-Nam recorded in 1966.  As an historian, I know the value of any documentation from the period which it describes.  Sure, Julius Caesar's "Gallic Wars" is a one sided account, but we know that.  Sometimes contemporary (at the time) documents tell us something very different from those done as hind-sight, with decades to re-write history by those who were NOT there.  Such is the history of this war.
The album has a gate-fold jacket including 16 pages of photos and a descriptive text - again,  written in 1966.
This recording is obviously pro-soldier, pro-involvement, and has the same flavor of the fictional film "The Green Berets," BUT, it was recorded by people who were there, and includes excerpts of interviews of people THERE, in 1966.  For that reason alone it's a valuable document.  Also, the towns and people's names are pronounced correctly, unlike modern media morons who describe the battle of HUE (pronounced WAY) as the battle of "Hugh."  How can you believe "facts" delivered by people who can't even pronounce the locations correctly?
No returns on this item.  Too many people dub vinyl these days, then ask to return the item for some fictional reason.
Side note: Do you want to read some authentic true letters from soldier in-Country?  Read Bob Greene's book, "Homecoming."  Greene's book is a collection of letters written to him (as a columnist) when he publicly asked for veterans to tell him how they were "greeted" upon their/our return to America.  His premise: Is it true Americans spat on you at the airport upon your return to America?  Read the book.
