Description
I am selling my complete collection of The Beatles and Beatles-related records, albums, and novelties.
The original 1967 release of this record album featured the Beatles on the cover as created by Sir Peter Blake.
BACKGROUND NOTES:
It’s a little-known fact that Peter Blake created alternative poses for the cover to this album, which were discarded in favor of the famous one as released in 1967. The alternative cover on this jacket cover uses the familiar collage backdrop to the original, but makes some small changes, including the positions of each Beatle.
This alternate jacket cover arrangement shows Ringo Starr next to a tuba and also Paul McCartney kneeling to the left of the bass drum. Also note that there are the additions of different celebrities in the background who were later obscured or deleted from the final arrangement, including Albert Einstein, Mahatma Gandhi, and Bette Davis in costume for her role as Queen Elizabeth.
ALSO NOTE, the song tracks are different.
Research found on the internet indicated that this alternate version is one of only 100 copies that were given to senior EMI executives in 1987 to mark the record’s 20th anniversary.
RECORD & COVER DETAILS:
- The record is in excellent condition. There are no scratches seen. The record was produced by Parlophone Records. This is a British import.
- The jacket cover is in excellent condition with no writings, marks, saw cuts, or drill holes. There is a small bump on each of the corners of the jacket cover.
NOTE: The jacket cover is NOT in a gatefold format like the original version.
