Description
Rare Amber - Rare Amber (1969 Polydor 583046)
Highly sought after blues rock/prog sole album from Rare Amber – you'll know how hard it is to find copies of this.
If you've not heard them, think early Fleetwood Mac and you won't go far wrong. The album blends band compositions with blues classics by the likes of BB King and Otis Spann, and was apparently recorded in a few days at IBC Studios in Portland Place, between 8am and 12 noon each day. The Who had the studios booked from noon to midnight, where they were recording Tommy.
Anyhow, first the good news: the laminated sleeve is in solid VG+ condition - a bit of creasing and minor laminate lift at the corners, and a touch of spine damage, but nothing too bad.
The vinyl? Well, there are lots of surface lines, scuffs and scratches, some of which look significant. It actually plays OK with some surface noise and crackle, apart from Side 1 Track 5, which has two skips.
Grading-wise, I would say Side 1 is only Fair (because of the skips), while Side 2 is more like Good +.
Inner is VG+.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a classic rock/blues/prog collectable. Copies in better condition easily go for three figures, so grab a bargain and upgrade if you get the chance!
