created for Blue Note, the legendary jazz label.

The Congregation by Johnny Griffin is No 21 in
Andy Warhol, The Record Covers 1949-1987,
Catalogue Raisonné, by Paul Maréchal,

The illustration uses Warhol's blotting technique
but the colours and style of the flowers can be
seen as an indication of his subsequent fine art.

The focus on the shirt and not the face, is another
idea that appears in subsequent work (This is John
Wallowitch and Sticky Fingers)
