Description
I am selling a Beatles album which is said to be rare. It is a British Import. I was recorded from tapes made by The Beatles in Hamburg in 1962, which was just about the time the Beatles were having their first recordings sessions for EMI. At the time Pete Best was the Beatles drummer, but as it happens on the night this recording was made, Ringo Starr was "sitting in" for Pete Best and a man called Ted Taylor did the recordings with Ringo as the drummer.
The tracks on this album are as follows:- Side 1: Be-Bop-A-Lula, Long Tall Sally, Your Feets Too Big, I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Cry Over You, Where Have You Been All My Life. Side 2: Sheila, Hallelujah I Love Her So, Till There Was You, Kansas City/Hey Hey Hey, I Remember You.
Until 1977 these tapes had been heard by no more than a handful of people but it was right that these Hamburg moments should be shared with the millions of Beatle fans worldwide. Melody Maker, the respected British pop music magazine reviewed the Hamburg tapes as they were in their original state and declared that the music neither injured the reputations of the artists or insulted the intelligence of listeners. The recordings were declared "a unique and important announcement of the most musical unit of the last decade". More than that they are history and provide the best insight into the early life of the Beatles which most people had thought was lost for good.
This album was imported from the USA.
The record itself seems in quite good condition. The cover on the album seems a little bit aged and dusty, but apart from that it seems ok.
